2024, you were so beautiful. I was honoured to welcome many families for an outdoor golden hour adventure. Starting from the end of April and up until the end of October I photographed families in the tall golden grass. I celebrated nature as it changed through the seasons – from the tall white cow parsley flowers in May, to the mid summer wild flowers, and the red and gold leaves in autumn, it was magical.

From newborn babies to teens, parents and grandparents, I’ve photographed ALL ages for a little walk (sometimes run!) around a very special and quiet wild flower and long grass field in St Albans.

An hour or two of love bombing your children, playing and running. Bring your children as they are, no need to “behave”, I promise we will have fun and create something beautiful!

How does the session work and how long does it last?

These sessions usually last approximately one hour. The location that I suggest is a beautiful wild flower and long grass field near to Heartwood Forest, Sandridge.

My sessions are a mix of a few traditional family portraits where I try to get you all to look at the camera and smile and LOTS of fun natural moments where we are walking and playing.

I bring blankets and toys for your children. We will look at the flowers, insects, sticks and play a lot of games that your children will hopefully enjoy (and happen to photograph very well!). Think of your adventure as a love bombing hour for your baby or children. We are there to have fun, not “behave”. I have photographed ALL personalities and moods, don’t worry, children are children. My own three young children are lightening quick, brilliantly bonkers and the greatest teachers on how to create beautiful photos of challenging subjects!

Bring non-staining snacks and water. Perhaps tell your children we’re going on a nature adventure with Sarah. Make sure your children aren’t hungry but don’t worry too much about tiredness, missed naps and emotional young children – this is something I’m very used to and I will use all my best distraction techniques and keep us moving quickly!

We don’t need sunshine! Clouds create beautiful warm and flattering light. If we have cloudless skies, that’s great, I can get creative with the light. We do need it to be dry and I keep my diary flexible and will offer you lots of alternative dates if we need to reschedule. I’ve found 15/16 degrees and above is the most comfortable for summer style outfits however I’ve photographed families outdoors in all seasons (including rain and snow!) and we can chat about your preferred options!
